Māori Radio

The advent of Māori radio was the result of a claim to the Waitangi Tribunal in 1986 concerning the allocation of radio frequencies. There are now 21 Māori radio stations throughout the country.

    (the Māori Broadcasting Funding Agency) has information on specific Māori radio stations.

  • Ruia Mai
    is a national Māori langauge radio news service networked to iwi stations. It can also be listened to in Auckland on 1179AM.
