WHO SHOULD USE MĀORI LANGUAGE PLANNING?

Different people and groups can use Māori language planning for specific purposes. Here are a few examples of who can use Māori language planning and how planning can be used to achieve their goals.

  • Māori language speaking communities - can plan to ensure that there will still be competent, dynamic kaikōrero on the paepae of their marae in 10, 50 or even 100 years time.
  • Public sector organisations - can develop a Māori language plan to ensure that they are able to provide services in Māori as well as English on demand.
  • Private sector businesses or organisations - can develop a Māori language plan to ensure that promotional campaigns with a focus on Māori, use appropriate Māori language to connect with their target audience.
